Halfway Responds To PIC With Entrapment

On the afternoon of April 14th, Halfway was alerted for a personal injury accident on Downsville Pike South of Hagerstown. Washington County ECC had reports of a multivehicle accident involving a construction vehicle. Halfway crews arrived to find three passenger vehicles and a cement mixer involved. Chief 26 established Downsville Pike Command and confirmed he had one confined and several patients for check up and requested two additional EMS Units to the scene.
Personnel from Halfway Engine 261 and Funkstown Rescue Squad 10 worked together to extricate the patient who was confined. One patient was transported to Meritus Medical Center by Williamsport Fire & EMS Medic 2-8. All other patients were checked out by EMS and refused transport. Halfway crew remained on scene with Maryland State Police until all hazards were cleared and then returned to service.
